The procedure, called otoplasty, corrects two often related anomalies that lead to the appearance of protruding ears: an excessive forward positioning of the auricle and a lack of folding in the upper part of the ear cartilage. It is a simple, effective procedure with no major risks and can be performed from the age of 6.

In practice, there are two situations: the child and the adult:

- A child who is subjected to comments, particularly at school, and wishes not to be different from others, a child who does not easily express their feelings, absolutely must be listened to if they speak about them because they are suffering, but the intervention requires general anesthesia and an overnight hospital stay.

- For adults who have been thinking about it for a long time but hesitate in the face of a request that may be perceived as futile, the procedure can be performed under local or local-assisted anesthesia and in all cases on an outpatient basis.

This is a procedure where it is exceptional for patients not to be satisfied because the request is simple and the result is as expected.
