Turbinoplasty:

It is performed under local anaesthetic or a light ambulatory anaesthetic. It consists in reducing the volume of the inferior turbinates by radiofrequency or laser, healing within a few weeks, and is indicated in cases of excess volume of these structures, resulting in tilting and positional nasal obstruction (nasal obstruction in the supine position).

Septoplasty:

It is performed under general anaesthetic with a 24-hour hospital stay, or on an outpatient basis (without spending the night in hospital). It consists in surgically straightening the deviated median nasal septum, and is indicated in cases of significant deviation, resulting in nasal obstruction that is usually unilateral or clearly predominant on the same side. The procedure does not alter the appearance of the nose, and causes no post-operative oedema or ecchymosis. There is no post-operative pain, but some discomfort due to the presence of swabs in the nasal cavity for 24 hours and plates against the septum for a week.

As part of the treatment of snoring and sleep apnea, nasal decongestion is indicated if respiratory discomfort is significant, and systematically improves daytime and nocturnal breathing, and therefore sleep quality.
