The procedure takes place under general anesthesia and lasts 2 to 3 hours depending on the case.

Hospitalization lasts 4 to 6 days . A dressing covers the head and the eye on the operated side. The eyelids are held closed under the dressing with a suture. The dressing is removed two days after the procedure, and a Betadine shampoo is performed, but a new head dressing remains necessary for another 1 or 2 days. Afterward, the cheek and eyelids appear swollen. The swelling disappears within 15 days to 3 weeks . The sutures in the nasolabial fold are removed after 7 days, and the staples in the scalp are removed after 10 days. Itching is common along the scalp incision for several weeks.
